Welcome to The World of Monkey's House Sanctuary.
This one place, nestled in the rolling green countryside, stood out among all others. It’s called Monkey’s House Dog Hospice and Sanctuary, a place where words weren’t just spoken but felt, where every dog had a story to tell. Some spoke with excitement, recounting tales of their past mischief—raiding garbage cans, chasing squirrels, and stealing socks. Others whispered of the hardships they endured before they arrived, their voices quivering with the weight of past pain.
But no matter their stories, every dog at Monkey’s House found one thing they never thought possible— a loving, caring home.

Monkey’s House isn’t just a sanctuary—it’s a symphony of voices, a gathering of souls who had found peace after lives of uncertainty. Dogs who had once been abandoned, ill, or unwanted were now storytellers, philosophers, and even comedians.
A feisty Chihuahua named JJ, whose graying muzzle spoke of many years, is the sassy comedian of the group. He often reports on the daily mischief and adventures he and his gang part take with their volunteers.
“You see, fellas, humans aren’t so different from us,” he’d say, sighing as he stretched out on his favorite rug. “They just take a little longer to understand love the way we do—without conditions, without fear.”
Meanwhile, Dan, an incredibly athletic collie mix who doesn’t have use of his hind legs, flies across the yard like superman, unaware of his short comings. It never stops him from chasing a ball or a squirrel for that matter.
“Listen up! If you don’t claim the best sunspot by noon, it’s mine. I don’t make the rules—I just enforce them!” Roo Roo Rocket declares daily, standing on a puppy bed like a tiny general rallying her troops.
“Is there room? There’s room. Make room. I’m coming up,” Lexi sighs under her breath as she manages her way into Jeff’s lap, pushing aside her roommates. “It’s a great view” exclaims Rocky.

While some dogs may scarf down their meals without a second thought (gasp—the horror!), Darla, on the other paw, believes in the art of dining. “We may not have met at the start of your story,” one caretaker often whispered to the newest arrivals, cradling them gently, “but we’re going to make sure the rest of it is the happiest chapter yet.”
Walk alongside their daily lives with the many humorous post entries made by JJ himself, giving you his canine report of visits at the beach, tattling on his roommate’s behaviors, or time spent with the Aunties and Uncles that shower them with aid and proper kisses.

Dan (left) and Sadie (right)It all started with two incredible humans, Jeff and Michele Allen, who decided that dogs like Darla, Dan, and JJ—senior, sick, and a little wobbly—deserve a soft landing, not a sad ending. They named it after Monkey, their scrappy little pup who refused to let medical problems dim his spark. And now, because of him, older unwanted dogs get to live out their last golden months or years in loving care, never alone, basking in canine joy. They receive medical care, food, shelter, exercise, and loving attention. It’s not an easy task by any means, financially, physically, or emotionally. “Many paws make light work,” as Sadie their longer resident would say.
