Three Simple Ways to Gently Cook at Home
Three Simple Ways to Gently Cook Raw Pet Food at Home. Whether feeding raw, warmed, or gently cooked, we leave serving options to the pet parent. While it’s perfectly fine to feed our food raw, we like to offer different cooking methods to provide safe, nutritious alternatives without significantly compromising the nutritional integrity of food. We account for picky eaters, transitional gateway feeding from processed diets to fresh wholefood recipes, and older pets with special needs and changed desires. If you want to thoroughly cook, the meat should achieve an inner temperature of 165°. You can use a meat thermometer to determine this.
RAW! RAW! RAW!
We offer the highest quality of wholefood recipes with safe, minimal processing to ensure that nutrients are uninterrupted so they don’t lose vital nutrition and keep their bioavailability. We have high standards and traceable humane sourcing where food safety is monitored from farm to bowl. All of our diets are frozen and can be thawed in the refrigerator, then fed within 5 days refrigerated. Some pets are not deterred by eating food cold, while others prefer eating food at room temperature (especially cats). Here are three simple ways to gently cook raw pet food at home.
Sauté:
While you don’t need to cook our raw foods but would prefer to do so, one of our recommended cooking methods is sautéing. It’s a kinder, gentler form of cooking, especially if you want to retain more nutrients, natural juices, and moisture than cooking on high heat for extended periods. To sauté, follow our instructions below.
Crock Pot, Slow Cooking:
Another gentle cooking method is slow cooking on low heat. It’s beneficial for cooking larger batches of food. Cooking duration varies, depending on the amount of food added, desired results (adante, lightly cooked, to fully cooked), and the equipment you use. For example, if you use 3 lbs of our Raw Ready to Cook Recipes, break the food up and add ¼ cup water or a bone broth (or ¼ cup per pound). Turn your crock pot on and cook on HIGH for 2-3 hours or LOW for 4-6 hours. Cooking time will vary depending on how many pounds of food you cook and your desired cooking result. Check the process when attempting it for the first time. Stir our food occasionally to help the recipe cook evenly.
Microwave, Quick Warming:
This method is controversial, and as you will lose nutrients with any form of cooking, there are significant variations in the degrees of losing nutrients by the method being used. We are adding food warming as a quick “zap” to remove the cold bite of food taken straight out of the refrigerator. In our case, a few of our Allprovide kitties do not care for their raw food being cold. They prefer eating their food at room temperature. However, when time is not on our side, and let’s face it, convenience is a factor in our daily lives, taking 2oz of food and zapping it in the microwave for less than 5 seconds (usually a slight crackle or pop is our indicator) and mixing it up to even the internal temperature is an easy, fast raw alternative to feeding food. The color of the meat should stay the same for under 5 seconds.

🔥 We like to warm it up first.
✅ Place the desired amount of food into the pan and cook on low to medium heat, covered.
💦 Using a little broth and covering the food ensures locking in moisture.
